OUR REGION

Our Region

The Superior East region includes the communities of Chapleau, Dubreuilville, Wawa, White River and surrounding First Nations. The region is situated along the Northeastern shore of Lake Superior and spans approximately 230 km. The total population of the region is around 6,000.

The main industries in the region include forestry and mining. Tourism is also popular as the region boasts several Provincial Parks, the Largest Crown Game Preserve in the World and each community hosts a festival in the summer. During the winter months, several snowmobile clubs maintain trails in the area to allow snowmobilers to travel from one community to another.
